I have a ? What does it mean when people say your the eight person once removed?

If two people share the same grandfather, they are 1st cousins; if they share the same great grandfather, they are 2nd cousins, etc. In order to be an 8th cousin you would have to share the same 7th great grandfather. Once removed means that one person is either a generation older or younger than the other.

I have not checked it out lately; however, you might try < >. They used to have a great relationship chart with instructions.
