Tuesday's Tip - System Toolbar (Beginner)

TT - System Toolbar

Tuesday's Tips provide brief how-to's to help you learn to use the Legacy Family Tree software with new tricks and techniques.

System Toolbar (Beginner)

This is the first in a series that will cover all of the Legacy Toolbars (also called Ribbons). I am not going to go in depth on every single option but there are certain things that I want to point out.

Many of you won't see the System Toolbar. It is only visible with certain color schemes. If you don't have a System Toolbar you will instead see a large Legacy Icon in the extreme upper left corner of the screen. Whether you click the System tab or you click the large Legacy Icon you will get the exact same menu.  Notice that the Legacy Icon is very small if you have the System tab.

Here is what the Legacy Icon looks like if you don't have the System tab:

As you can see, the menus are identical. You will see a list of your most recent files which is a great shortcut if you work with multiple files. The menu on the left is self-explanatory but I want to show you the Print menu.

The Print Setup option is where you will tell Legacy which printer is your default printer. You can also select some basic printing parameters here. All of these can be overridden when working with an individual report. You will see a list of shortcuts to the various reports and there is a down arrow at the bottom of the list to display more.

Next time we will look at the File Toolbar.
