Register for Friday's 'O Canada' webinar - Expelled from Nova Scotia: Researching the Acadian Diaspora to the Colonies by Ann G. Lawthers, Sc.D.

In 1750 nearly 7000 Acadian settlers of Nova Scotia were summarily rounded up, boarded onto ships and sent southward to the American Colonies. The colonies to which they were sent had little or no warning of the refugees imminent arrival. This webinar reviews the unique political and social environments of each receiving colony, the fate of the Acadians once landed, and describes where the researcher can find clues about their ancestor in the records of each colony.

Webinar Description

Because of the Chinese tradition of ancestor veneration, the earliest discovered written records in China included genealogical information. This presentation includes a brief history of Chinese genealogies, a look at the typical format and content of these records, search methodologies for finding Chinese genealogies (including searching for ancestral villages and exploring the Chinese genealogical collections of FamilySearch, the Shanghai Library, and other institutions), and instruction for reading the lineage and data tables portions these records.

The 24-Hour Genealogy Webinar Marathon concludes - more than 44k registrants!

8681_genealogy_conference_post_1000_1000_biz2Our 3rd annual 24-hour Genealogy Webinar Marathon was a huge success. More than 40,000 genealogists (44,202 to be exact) from 72 countries registered for the live 24 hour event. The 24 wonderful speakers from 7 countries helped all of us improve our genealogy skills, while even keeping some of our attendees awake for the entire marathon. Wow! :)

You've had so many wonderful things to say about the marathon. Here are just a few of our favorites:

"Fantastic 24 hrs. I was so excited with the titles of the webinars that I stayed up the whole 24 hrs. There is so much to follow up on in my genealogy as a result of the last 24 hours. Thanks to all the presenters!" - Webinar Viewer

"This year's marathon has been outstanding. I can attend a Legacy webinar anytime, but an event like this shakes things up a bit. Thanks to everyone whose hard work made it possible." - July McKemy

"Webinar Marathon has given me motivation to begin again!" - Webinar Viewer

"I’m grateful to Legacy Family Tree Webinars for always giving us the Crème de la Crème of speakers. The information is always timely, well researched and accurate - simply the best!" - Therese Beckman

Of the hundreds of hours that we at Legacy Family Tree Webinars, MyHeritage, and the speakers put into this event, we couldn't have been more pleased with the turnout, and with what seemed to be a flawless event. Thanks to Hope for agreeing!

"Wow. 24 high quality, topic specific webinars in 24 hours. Sounds like it could go wrong in so many ways, but it didn't. It ran smoothly! The content, while all genealogically specific, varied and kept things from getting boring. The ability to watch sessions later, on demand, ingenious. Thank you. This is a well thought out and executed webinar." - Hope Harvey

The Replays

If you missed a class or two or twenty-four, we're now hard at work processing and publishing the replays for you. They are found at www.FamilyTreeWebinars.com/24 and will be free for the first week.
