The 24-Hour Genealogy Webinar Marathon concludes - more than 55k registrants!

8681_genealogy_conference_post_1000_1000_biz2Our 4th annual 24-hour Genealogy Webinar Marathon was a huge success. More than 55,000 genealogists (55,301 to be exact) from 70 countries registered for the live 25 hour event. The 25 wonderful speakers from 10 countries helped all of us improve our genealogy skills, while even keeping some of our attendees awake for the entire marathon. Wow! :)

You've had so many wonderful things to say about the marathon. Here are just a few of our favorites:

"I have not had a better experience of learning in my 70-plus years of existence. By the way, I was an educator by profession." - Clinton Pettus

"Thank you to Geoff, Marian, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeWebinars & everyone else behind the scenes for an AMAZING & Mind-blowing Marathon!!" - Mary Stempien

Thank you Geoff, Marian and all the presenters. If you decide there'll be a 5th Annual 24 hour marathon, I'll be there! I hope you do! It's even better than RootsTech! - Jacquie Jones Vickers

"This was the most inspiring and exciting way to spend 24 hrs. I learnt so much that will help me. I am truly grateful to your speakers for their research wisdom and attention to our genealogical needs. Also for their warm, friendly and encouraging delivery. Fabulous." - Julia Elliott

Of the hundreds of hours that we at Legacy Family Tree Webinars, MyHeritage, and the speakers put into this event, we couldn't have been more pleased with the turnout, and with what seemed to be a flawless event.

About the presenter

JannaHelshtein-144x144Janna Helshtein’s journey into genealogy started over 20 years ago prompted by an innocent question from her (then) toddler about people in the family. This journey took a turn into genetic genealogy over 7 years ago discovering her ex-partner’s biological parents and uniting him with a family he never knew. So, all beginnings were close to heart. She is the founder of DNA AT EYE LEVEL, and besides helping others in their search for bio-family, she helps the Hebrew-speaking community access the world of DNA through teaching, counselling and public speaking. She believes everyone deserves to know their truth and have the tools to do it at hand.

Covering Your Bases: An Introduction to Autosomal DNA Coverage - Free replay of today's webinar by Paul Woodbury, MEd., AG now available for limited time

The recording of today's webinar by Paul Woodbury, MEd., AG, "Covering Your Bases: An Introduction to Autosomal DNA Coverage” is now available to view at www.FamilyTreeWebinars.com for free for a limited time.

Webinar Description

Autosomal DNA tests are utilized in genetic genealogy to solve historic research questions by exploring the genetic traces left by deceased ancestors in the genomes of their living descendants. Any given descendant only inherits a portion of their ancestor’s DNA, and different descendants inherit different portions of that DNA. Based on the relationships between tested descendants of a research subject, it is possible to estimate how much of an ancestor’s DNA is represented in any given database. This information can help in prioritization of testing candidates and can also aid in interpretation of shared DNA between multiple groups of individuals.

Looking for ‘Aliens’ Down Under: A Guide to Australian Naturalisation Records by Kristy Love, PhD - free replay of tonight's webinar now available for limited time

2023-04-04-image500blog

The recording of today's webinar by Kristy Love, PhD, "Looking for ‘Aliens’ Down Under: A Guide to Australian Naturalisation Records” is now available to view at www.FamilyTreeWebinars.com for free for a limited time.

Webinar Description

Following the founding of the colony of Australia, individuals born in the British Empire were considered British subjects, irrespective of the nationality of their parents. Residents of Australia whose native place was outside of the British Empire were not afforded the same rights and privileges as British subjects. These rights, in particular the right to buy land and vote, could be conferred to an individual by a process known as naturalisation. This bureaucratic process generated multiple sets of records that contain a wealth of genealogical information. This talk will outline the complex history of naturalisation in Australia, the changing terminology used, how, when and why naturalisation records were created, and discuss the likely availability of records and for whom they may have been created.
